Phase 1 · Workbench setupSTEREO LOCALIZATION
Where is the sound?
Listen on stereo headphones, then choose the position you hear.
Ready when you are.
PIANO NOTE-COUNT TRAINING
How many notes are playing?
Listen for the number of simultaneous piano notes. Note names and pitches are not tested.
Normal uses mostly wider note spacing. Expert favors close clusters. Both difficulties use answers from one to five notes.
Ready when you are.
No production piano recordings are bundled. Add appropriately licensed WAV files to
assets/audio/piano/; see that folder’s README for the naming convention.
FILTER CUTOFF TRAINING
Where does the filter cut?
Listen to 5 seconds of pink noise, then 5 seconds of the same noise filtered. Identify the cutoff of a high-pass (HPF) or low-pass (LPF) filter.
Tolerance: Easy ±⅓ octave · Normal ±⅙ octave · Expert ±¹⁄₁₂ octave. Changing difficulty discards the round, not the score.
Ready. Start a 10-second listening exercise.
100 Hz – 8 kHz · logarithmic (equal spacing per octave). Use arrow keys to adjust. ▼ Your selection · ◆ Target (shown after answering).
PARAMETRIC EQ TRAINING
Where is the EQ boost?
Listen to 5 seconds of reference pink noise, then 5 seconds of the same continuous noise with a peaking EQ boost. Identify its center frequency.
Easy: 1 octave, +12 dB, ±⅓ octave tolerance. Normal: ½ octave, +9 dB, ±⅙ octave. Expert: ⅓, ¼, ⅙ or ⅛ octave, +6 dB, ±¹⁄₁₂ octave. Changing difficulty discards the round, not the score.
Ready. Start a 10-second listening exercise.
100 Hz – 6 kHz · logarithmic (equal spacing per octave). Use arrow keys to adjust. ▼ Your selection · ◆ Target (shown after a correct answer or reveal).
